What is up Pamilya! We recently celebrated FILCASA's 3rd Annual Spring Formal: Sinta last Saturday at the Chelsea Hotel and it was a blast! From the Photo Booth to the dance floor, we made tons of fun and memories all night! Not to forget the awards given that night to the one's who were most deserving *hint* *hint*, it's definitely us.
The night was buzzing with tons of beautiful people who were posing for pictures left and right. Formal opened with the national anthems, a message from our hosts, and dinner that was served by the Chelsea Hotel.
But let's not forget who took the spotlight at the beginning of the night!
Our very own Georelle Mendoza addressed a beautiful speech that told us about how successful on both FSAY and FILCASA was during the year. And yes Pamilya, we definitely killed it with all our events for the year!
After a few short performances, it was time for the award ceremony. And who would have thought! The Outstanding FSA of the Year belonged to not one, but TWO FSAs! Yup, we shared this award with our sister FSA, the Filipino Student Association of the University of Ottawa (FILSA-UO)!
That's right! It was definitely a tight race between both FILSA-uO and FSAY for that award! FILSA-uO hosted Pinoys at Parliament earlier this year and brought in tons of Filipinos from across Ontario to visit Ottawa. Not only did we get to learn more about the thriving presence of Filipinos in Parliament, but it also opened the doors to new possibilities.

As the night moved along, FILCASA awarded one of our best, Christina Laconsay, the Above and Beyond award! Which is only given to those who *literally* go above and beyond on what is expected of them in their respective FSAs. And wouldn't you know it, FILSA-uO's very own Lhori Webster shared this award as well. Phew, it definitely was a neck-and-neck race with FILSA-uO.
Awards were going left and right throughout the night and we definitely needed to give some awards to our very own as well. Francis Calingo and Reston Senining took home our Executives of the Year award for all their hard work! Francis definitely stepped up this year for us in reaching out to various clubs, sponsors, and anything that placed FSAY above our sister-companies and rivals. Reston killed our social media game and brought FSAY to a new and refreshing light in the social media scene. Lots of love to these two boys for pulling through for us!
So where did we go from here? Partying of course (and maybe a little drinking)! We danced the night away and made it one of the most unforgettable experiences! So much fun that you'd wish you could've been there!
