Filipinas Speak Out

Last October 11, 2019, we hosted the Filipinas Speak Out. Along with the said organization's founder, Rachel Cruz, the main focus of this workshop was to make everyone more aware of how rampant sexual violence is.

Through Rachel Cruz's words and inspiration, she was able to enlighten the crowd on how we must always stand up for ourselves during times that we experience any sort of violence.

Everyone was then clustered down to smaller focus groups where open conversations abut jealousy and anger were discussed. Among the things that were discussed were the root causes of these problems and how these can be tackled upon. This workshop was also led by Nora Angeles, the Chairperson at ADHIKA, which is an organization that promotes Filipino-Canadian cultural awareness through its various initiatives.

Moving forward, as the Filipinx generation, we must always stand up for ourselves in any uncomfortable situation. Even if it may seem unconventional to other people's eyes, it is something we must do in order to make ourselves more heard.

Through this workshop, we hope that everyone learned a thing or two from the different topics that were discussed & that everyone had a fresher perspective on how we should become more vocal individuals in this day and age. With our heavy discussions, it was also a good event to get to know the Pamilya even more and it helped formed a tighter bond amongst us. As a reminder, we should no longer be just a bystander. We must always stand up for ourselves and the people around us who are facing any form of violence or those who are undergoing any sort of problem that hinders their daily life activities.

We hope you enjoyed this workshop as much as we did! If you missed out on us, do not worry as we still have many amazing events in store for everyone! As always, keep an eye out for our socials for our upcoming events! See you soon Pamilya!
